Tornadoes collect fifteen hits in win

WORCESTER, MA- Magic 15! The Tornadoes collected 15 hits as they won 10-5 over the Sussex Skyhawks-who are currently on a 15 game loosing streak-on Tuesday night in front of their 15th sellout crowd of the year at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.

The Tornadoes kept their hitting cycle going in the first inning as Brian Rios had an RBI groundout that scored Austin Wasserman who reached base on a single. Skyhawks left fielder Scott Grimes answered back with a run of his own as he hit a solo shot to start off the second.

The Tornadoes added a crooked number in the third as Bergeron had an RBI single that scored Austin Wasserman and would later score on an RBI single by catcher Patrick Perry. Jeff LaHair would cap off the inning with a single that scored Bob Tewksbary who had drawn a walk.

The Skyhawks tied up the game by answering back with three runs of their own. Mayke Cabrera had an RBI double and then later scored on a play that featured two errors and two runs scored. Not willing to stay tied for long, Chris Colabello had an RBI sacrifice fly and Bob Tewksbary laced a ball into left centerfield to add two runs on the board.

The next scoring would feature solo homers by Skyhawks Dick Daly Jr. in the fifth and then a bomb hit by Tornadoes Rios to left centerfield in the sixth.

Josh Beauregard hit a double in the seventh and then was caught stealing-However, the third baseman overthrew and the ball went into centerfield and he was able to score. They tacked on an insurance run in the eighth when LaHair had his second RBI of the night as Tewksbary, who was hit by a pitch, scored.

D.J. Mattox went six innings giving up six hits and five runs (three earned) along with striking out seven Skyhawks. Skyhawks starter Jose Correa pitched 3.3 innings giving up seven runs (five earned) on nine hits striking out one. Dallas Mahan picked up the save.
