Dobson and Lofton lead Pride over Quebec, 8-1

(Nashua, NH, Aug. 22, 2006) The Nashua Pride (20-13, 37-38) extended their winning streak to five games on Tuesday night with an 8-1 victory over the Quebec Capitales (20-14, 36-41) before a crowd of 1,691 at Historic Holman Stadium.

Pride centerfielder Sean Dobson led the Nashua attack with three hits including a two-run homer in the second inning, his first of the season. James Lofton also had three hits, scored once and drove in a run from the leadoff spot. Jayson Bass belted his fourth home run in the sixth inning to cap off the Nashua scoring. Catcher Tommy Rojas added two hits and an RBI for Nashua.

Lefthander Mark Hamilton (8-5) took care of business on the mound for the Pride. Hamilton worked seven innings, scattering four hits, allowing one run, walking none and striking out five. Jason Blanton pitched the final two innings for the Pride and did not allow a base runner.

Quebec's only run came in the seventh when Goefrey Tomlinson opened the inning with a single and scored on a double by Eddie Lantigua, the leading hitter in the Can-Am League.

Keith Dunn (5-11) started for Quebec and lasted seven innings, surrendering 13 hits, seven earned runs, walking two and striking out three.

The Pride and the Capitales will resume their three-game series Wednesday night at Historic Holman Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:05. It's scheduled to be a battle of southpaws with Jarrad Lavergne (2-3, 4.80) on the mound for Nashua and Kevin Beavers (2-3, 5.97) set to work for Quebec.

Tomorrow night will feature Rockin' Ray and the Amazing Skyy Dogs, America's most exciting canine entertainers. Fans should also wear their scariest costumes for Halloween in August on Wednesday night and the first 1,000 fans will receive complimentary trick or treat bags courtesy of the NH State Liquor Commission. To further the canine theme, four or five greyhounds from the Greyhound Placement Service and the Humane Society for Greater Nashua will also be in attendance.
