Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

The Albuquerque Isotopes (42-34) scored eight times in the eighth inning to complete a dramatic rally in a 9-5 come-from-behind victory over the Nashville Sounds (40-36) before 10,120 fans Friday night at Isotopes Park. Trailing 5-1 in the eighth, the ‘Topes tied the game on a two-run single by Ryan Jorgensen and took the lead on a base hit by Chris Aguila before Mark Little capped off the scoring with his second hit of the inning, a three-run homer to center field.

Little led off the ‘Topes' eighth with a single off Nashville reliever Andy Pratt and moved to third base on a one-out base hit by Todd Sears. Jason Wood followed with a single to left field that plated the first Isotopes run of the frame. A walk to Matt Padgett loaded the bases for Wilson Delgado, who banged a ground ball to second base that cut the Sounds lead to 5-3 off of Mike Adams (0-1), who relieved Pratt.

Josh Wilson kept things going with a walk that re-loaded the bases before Jorgensen completed the ‘Topes' rally with a two-out base hit that brought home Delgado and Wood. Aguila, who was pinch hitting for ‘Topes reliever Pat Flury (1-1), gave Albuquerque its first lead of the contest with a single to center field that plated Jorgensen before Little hammered his 18th homer deep into the night.

The rally spoiled a brilliant start by Nashville righty Gary Glover, who was dominant in his third start of the season for Nashville. The veteran allowed just one unearned run on six hits and striking out seven in as many innings. Corey Hart collected four hits and Warren Morris hit a two run homer for the Sounds. Sears collected a game-high three hits for Albuquerque.

Nashville built an early 3-0 with one run in the second and two runs in the third before the ‘Topes got on the board thanks to a third-inning, RBI-single by Sears. Dave Krynzel hit an RBI-triple and Trent Durrington followed with an RBI-single in the fourth inning to stretch the Sounds' lead to 5-1.

The ‘Topes will next open an eight-game road trip beginning Saturday night at Round Rock at 6:05. Right-handed pitcher Frank Castillo (6-3, 4.04) is scheduled to start for Albuquerque against Express righty Frenando Nieve (0-1, 4.50). The Isotopes will return to Isotopes Park for an eight-game homestand against the Oklahoma RedHawks and Memphis Redbirds beginning on the Fourth of July. Come out and celebrate our nation's independence with a post-game fireworks extravaganza! Tickets are available at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at local Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com, and Ticketmaster by phone at 883-7800.
