Oklahoma City Comets News Release
Iowa scored 10 runs in the first three innings Thursday in a 14-2 drubbing of the RedHawks. The Cubs out-hit Oklahoma 18-2, with the RedHawks not collecting a hit after the first inning.
Oklahoma has dropped nine straight, matching the longest losing streak in RedHawks' history.
The RedHawks led 1-0 after a half inning, continuing a trend in which they've led at some point in each of the last seven losses. Starter Ryan Snare (1-2) allowed four first-inning runs including a two-run homer by Ronny Cedeno, who went 4-for-5 with five RBIs and lacked just a single for a cycle. Snare was charged with 10 runs, nine earned, in 2.2 innings as Iowa built a 10-1 lead after three.
Iowa starter John Koronka (5-6) limited the RedHawks to two runs on two hits in seven innings for the win.
Oklahoma remains two games back of Albuquerque in the American South.
The RedHawks face rehabbing right-hander Kerry Wood Friday at 7:05 p.m. at Principal Park. The broadcast can be heard on Super Talk 930 WKY and Sportsjuice.com.
