Top Three in Lineup All Go Deep to Lead PawSox Past Gwinnett

(Lawrenceville, GA) - The top three hitters in the Pawtucket Red Sox lineup all went deep en route to a 6-4 victory over the Gwinnett Braves to close out May on Tuesday night at Coolray Field.
Chris Marrero hammered a go-ahead, two-run blast for his International League lead-tying 10th home run of the season in the third inning. Two frames later, the top two hitters in the batting order, Ryan LaMarre and Justin Maxwell, delivered back-to-back shots to put the PawSox (25-27) on top again and this time for good.
Despite surrendering four runs in the first three innings (three who reached base by walks and one via a hit by pitch), Pawtucket starter Henry Owens (4-2) found his groove and retired the final 10 batters he faced to earn the win.
Owens allowed four runs, all earned, on three hits and three walks in six innings of work. He struck out four in his 99-pitch outing.
PawSox Relievers Noe Ramirez and Kyle Martin combined for three scoreless innings to seal the victory.
Ramirez allowed a pair of singles to begin the seventh. But after the runners advanced into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt, he struck out Jace Peterson and Matt Tuiasosopo to maintain the lead.
After a perfect eighth inning, Martin pitched around a single and two errors with two outs in the ninth to also strand a pair of Braves in scoring position, earning his second save of the season.
The G-Braves (25-28) first took the lead in the first inning on Brandon Snyder's RBI single to right field.
The PawSox responded in the third inning against Gwinnett starter Lucas Sims (1-4).
Mike Miller led off the frame with a walk and advanced all the way to third base on an errant pickoff throw from Sims. Sims' fourth ball to the next batter, Dan Butler, was a wild pitch that allowed Miller to score.
Chris Marrero then followed with his blast over the left field fence that put Pawtucket ahead, 3-1.
Gwinnett answered with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Three walks loaded the bases and Snyder delivered the first run of the half-inning with a sacrifice fly.
Owens relinquished the lead as the next two batters each recorded RBI singles. Ronnier Mustelier stroked a ball into right field to tie the game and Recker lined one into center field that gave the G-Braves a 4-3 lead.
All three RBI knocks in the frame came on the first pitch of the at-bat.
The PawSox promptly tied the game at 4-4 in the fourth inning when Sims uncorked two walks and two wild pitches that allowed Jantzen Witte to score.
LaMarre, playing his first game since Friday, led off the fifth inning with a home run (4) over the center field fence, allowing the Pawtucket to retake the lead.
The next batter, Maxwell, hammered a pitch into the PawSox bullpen over the right field fence, his fifth home run of the season and second in his last four games. The 6-4 lead stuck through the conclusion of the game.
Pawtucket has collected back-to-back jacks twice this season, both against Gwinnett.
All three hits allowed by Simms were home runs.
The PawSox complete their three-game series with Gwinnett tomorrow evening at 7:05 p.m. Pawtucket righthander William Cuevas (4-2, 3.14) is scheduled to face off with G-Braves righty Lucas Harrell (1-0, 6.00). Radio coverage on WHJJ (920 AM) and throughout the PawSox radio network begins at 6:35 p.m.
