Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Three homers fueled four of five unanswered runs as the RailRiders fell to the Bulls on Memorial Day Monday, 5-3. The RailRiders lost for the first time on their road trip while the Bulls reached five runs for just the second time in their last dozen games.

MASTER BLASTER: SWB scored all of its runs in the visiting fourth. Chris Parmelee started it with a two-run homer to right off of southpaw starter Justin Marks, tying him with Aaron Judge for the team lead in homers at seven. It marked the left-handed Parmelee's first home run off a left-handed pitcher since June 5, 2015 at Charlotte against Jarrett Casey. The first baseman also singled and walked, going 2-for-3. Parmelee has hits in seven straight games and nine of his last 10, going 11-for-36 over the longer stretch with four homers and 12 RBIs, slashing .306/.375/.694/1.069.

HERE'S THE STORY: Starter Brady Lail maintained that lead through his six innings for a fourth straight quality start. The lone run against him came on a leadoff homer by Jake Goebbert in the sixth. Over his last four starts, Lail has a 1.88 ERA and a 2-1 record.

ALL GOOD THINGS: SWB saw its scoreless-innings streak end at 27 in a row, one shy of the season-high mark set from April 12-14. The earlier run included the team's only other set of back-to-back shutout wins, at Pawtucket on April 13 and versus Syracuse on April 14 in 11 innings.

'PEN PROBLEMS: The trio of Diego Moreno (1), Neal Cotts (1) and Johnny Barbato (2) combined to allow four runs in two innings behind Lail. Nick Franklin's game-tying homer was the first hit allowed by Cotts as a RailRider. SWB's bullpen had not allowe a run since Barbato gave up an unearned tally versus Louisville one week ago. The team's relievers went 19 scoreless innings before Jaff Decker's seventh-inning sac fly last night.

SWISHALICIOUS: Nick Swisher went 2-for-5 and both of his hits came as a right-handed hitter. The switch hitter has hit .462 as a right-handed batter versus a .165 mark as a left-handed batter.

ON A ROLL: 2015 SWB All-Star Kyle Roller tripled on a 2-for-4 night in his first game against his former club.

RISPY BUSINESS: The RailRiders stranded 10 men on base, five in scoring position, and went 1-for-7 with men at second and/or third.

TROUBLE AT THE TOP: SWB's top three hitters, Ben Gamel, Judge and Donovan Solano went 0-for-13 with two walks and four strikeouts. Over his last 13 games, Judge has gone 7-for-49 (.143) with no extra-base hits, three walks and 17 strikeouts. The funk has dropped his batting average to a season-low .234. At .293, his OBP is the lowest it has been since it was at .250 after the season's first two games. At .394, his slugging percentage is lowest it has been since it stood at .333 after game three of the campaign.

GETTING HIGGY WITH IT: Catcher Kyle Higashioka gave the RailRiders the only run they would need Saturday with his first Triple-A home run, a first-pitch job to left in the third inning off starter Joe Gunkel (1-3). His first two starts behind the plate with SWB this season have each been shutout wins. He entered 2016 as a .233 career hitter before slashing .286/.338/.437/.775 in 34 games as the primary catcher for Double-A Trenton to start this season.

RUNNING WITH THE BULLS: At 25.8, Durham stands tied with Rochester for the second-youngest group of position players in the IL, trailing only Indianapolis (25.3)...The Bulls' offense ranks worst in the IL in runs (3.06/game), batting average (.228), on-base percentage (.302), slugging percentage (.338) and strikeouts (474)...Durham pitchers have allowed an IL-high 46 homers, but lead the loop in K/9IP (9.3) and K/BB ratio (3.14).
