Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Sacramento, CA - The first four spots in the batting order proved to be highly valuable for the Albuquerque Isotopes on Saturday night. Wynton Bernard, Sean Bouchard, Elehuris Montero and Carlos Pérez combined for nine of Albuquerque's 12 hits and all five RBI in a 5-1 victory over the Sacramento River Cats at Sutter Health Park. With the win, the Isotopes snapped their three-game skid and kept their hopes of a series split alive. Albuquerque starting pitcher Karl Kauffmann labored all night but only surrendered one run, coming via an RBI double by Arquimedes Gamboa in the second inning. Kauffmann allowed four hits in 3.2 frames while walking five and fanning six. He threw 92 pitches and stranded seven baserunners during his time on the mound. Trailing 1-0 in the fifth, the Topes took the lead when Wynton Bernard lined a two-run homer over the right-field wall, his 15th long ball of the season. Elehuris Montero led off the sixth with a triple before immediately scoring on a base hit by Carlos Pérez to make it 3-1. Montero was part of another rally in the seventh, as he singled home Sean Bouchard who had doubled. Bouchard connected on his second double of the night in the ninth, a long blast off the left-center field wall to plate Bernard for the final tally of the night. Albuquerque's bullpen was outstanding. Matt Dennis, Julian Fernández, Justin Lawrence, Chad Smith and Zach Lee combined to permit just two baserunners over the final 5.1 innings - one hit and one walk.

Topes Scope: - Bernard tallied his team-leading 27th multi-hit game of the season, and it was his seventh three-hit contest. Tonight was the 20th time Bernard has driven home multiple runs in a game.

- Montero notched his second triple in the last three games he has played for Albuquerque. This was his ninth multi-hit game in his last 16 Triple-A contests dating back to May 27.

- Alan Trejo increased his hitting streak to six games. During the stretch he is 11-for-26 with four doubles.

- Kauffmann became the third Isotopes pitcher to walk five batters in a game in 2022 (Brandon Gold, 7/1 vs. SUG and Zach Neal, 7/3 vs. SUG).

- Coco Montes grounded into his 10th double play of the season and is tied for the most GIDP in the PCL (Viamel Machin, LV and Heliot Ramos, SAC). Montes is 2-for-his-last-28 at the plate with 11 strikeouts.
