Bees Throw League-Leading Shutout

Five Salt Lake pitchers combined to throw their league leading fifth shutout, as the Bees blanked the Las Vegas Aviators 11-0 on Saturday night. Starter Jhonathan Diaz left in the second inning with an upper body injury, but Jonathan Aro (4-5) came out of the bullpen and threw four scoreless innings to earn his third straight win. Oliver Ortega tossed two shutout innings, while Keith Rogalla and Grant Dayton threw one each to finish off the Bees' fourth consecutive win.

Salt Lake jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on solo homers by Jose Rojas, his fourth long ball of the series, and Kean Wong. Jake Palomaki would add an RBI single in the second and Matt Thaiss belted a two run homer in the fifth to make it 5-0. The Bees would break it open with four runs in the sixth on an RBI double by Jake Gatewood, a run scoring single by Kyle Kasser and a two run double by Wong. Gatewood closed out the scoring with a two run homer in the seventh. Gatewood and Wong led the Bees, as each delivered two hits and three runs batted in, as Salt Lake clinched its third road series win of the season.
