Sacramento River Cats News Release

West Sacramento, Calif. - A fifth-inning two-run shot was too much to overcome as the Sacramento River Cats (40-49) had their three-game winning streak snapped in a 5-1 loss to the Albuquerque Isotopes (41-48) on Saturday.

With two outs in the fifth, former River Cats center fielder Wynton Bernard spoiled an otherwise solid start by Sacramento right-hander Raynel Espinal (5-4). Espinal struck out seven while allowing the two runs on four hits and two walks in 5.0 innings.

Shortstop Arquímedes Gamboa knocked in the game's first run in the second, following up two walks by plating third baseman Wyatt Mathisen with a double.

First baseman Jason Krizan extended his on-base streak to 14 and hitting streak to seven with a first-inning single. The 33-year-old is 22-for-53 (.415) with 14 runs, 10 doubles, 10 RBIs, and a 1.139 OPS over his last 14 games.

Right-hander Tristan Beck (3-6, 7.13) will try to earn the River Cats a series win in Sunday's finale. Beck will be opposed by righty Brandon Gold (3-4, 6.56) at 1:05 p.m. (PT). Listen to Johnny Doskow call the game online at rivercats.com or on the MiLB First Pitch app.

Additional Notes

Designated hitter Donovan Walton also extended his hitting streak in the game, reaching eight with a 1-for-5 day. He is 9-for-33 (.273) with four runs, four doubles, and four RBIs during the streak.
