Tony Turgeon and Sam Kurker return to Manchester

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that Tony Turgeon has been returned from loan to the Monarchs by the Springfield Thunderbirds (AHL) and Sam Kurker has been returned from loan to the Monarchs by the Thunderbirds.

The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings.

Turgeon, 28, returns to Manchester after playing 21 games for the Thunderbirds this season. Turgeon scored two points on one goal and one assist, with 39 penalty minutes and a +3 rating. With the Monarchs this season, Turgeon has played in nine games, where he recorded one goal and 24 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-4, 231-pound native of Grand Forks, N.D., played collegiately at the University of Nebraska-Omaha for four seasons where he played 62 games. In his professional career, Turgeon has racked up 91 AHL games and 76 ECHL games, including 381 combined penalty minutes.

Kurker, 24, returns from Springfield after playing in 19 games, posting four points (1g, 3a) and racking up 12 penalty minutes. In 34 games with the Monarchs this season, Kurker has scored 28 points (11g, 28a), while totaling 18 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-2, 203-pound native of Boston, Mass., completed his 2016-17 season playing in one game for the Albany Devils (AHL), without recording a point, after finishing his collegiate season at Northeastern University where he posted six points (3g, 3a) in 28 games.

Turgeon, Kurker and the Monarchs return to the ice Sunday, Apr. 8 (3:05 p.m.) when they play the Worcester Railers from the DCU Center for the final game of the regular season.
