Americans Fall to Idaho 4-2, Lockup the Third Spot in the Mountain
April 8, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, dropped a 4-2 decision to the Idaho Steelheads Saturday night at Allen Event Center in front of an impressive crowd of 5,103.
With the Americans loss, and the Wichita loss to Colorado, the Americans will face Idaho in Round 1 of the playoffs. Idaho will have home-ice advantage with Games 1 & 2 in Boise, with Games 3 and 4 in Allen, as well as Game 5 (if necessary.) Then, Games 6 & 7 back in Boise (if necessary.)
Thomas Frazee scored his 18th of the season on Saturday night, in his final game in an Americans sweater. Frazee is not eligible for the Americans playoff roster because he didn't play enough games in the American Hockey League to qualify.
"I love it here," said Frazee, on the Americans broadcast tonight. "I know I haven't been here long, but it seems like I've been here all season. We have a great group in our room and you better believe I'll be watching and cheering from home."
Josh Thrower had the other goal for Allen, his first of the season, set up by Thomas Frazee and Zach Pochiro. It was Pochiro's 100th career point.
Three Stars of the Game:
