Johnstown Tomahawks News Release

JOHNSTOWN, PA - Seeking their fifth consecutive win, the Johnstown Tomahawks fell to the Wenatchee Wild Saturday night by a score of 5-1. The Tomahawks managed to kill off nine Wenatchee powerplays, but were outshot 43-13 in the game.

The Tomahawks got into penalty trouble early in the first, allowing two power play opportunities for the Wild within the first ten minutes. With both teams shorthanded by one man for unrelated penalties, Wenatchee's Ryan Gotelaere capitalized on the additional space, setting up winger Parker Tuomie for a one-timer in front of Tomahawks goaltender Jake Moore. The goal, scored at 15:03 of the first period, was Tuomie's sixth of the year.

Tuomie increased that number early in the second period, sending another one-timer - this time sent by Tanner Barnes - past the right pad of Moore at 0:35. Tuomie's goal gave him two for the night and seven on the season. At 4:43, the Wild's Barnes capitalized on another rebound to give the team a 3-0 lead as he jammed the puck between Moore's skate and the post, earning his second goal on the year.

The Wild extended their lead to 4-0 at 1:21 in the third when Trey Bradley passed the puck from behind the goal-line to set up Troy Loggins for the one-timer in front of the net. The goal marked Loggins' ninth of the season and Bradley's third assist of the game. Dakoda Menslage put the Tomahawks on the scoreboard at 4:44 in the third as he took the puck to the net, past multiple defenders, to back hand it over Wenatchee's Chase Perry's pad. Wenatchee again extended their lead at 9:40 in the third, as Mike Coyne scored his second goal of the season for the Wild, putting his own rebound into the net past Moore to set the final score at 5-1.

The Tomahawks are back in action next weekend, Nov. 22-23, to face-off against the division leader, the Port Huron Fighting Falcons. The puck is set to drop at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22nd and 7p.m. on Saturday, Nov.23rd. Saturday marks the Johnstown tradition of the Teddy Bear Toss where fans are encouraged to bring their stuffed toy to toss onto the ice after the Tomahawks score their first goal. All stuffed toys will be donated to Toys for Tots to be given to underprivileged children.
