Johnstown Tomahawks News Release

Johnstown, PA - The Johnstown Tomahawks have announced that right-shot defenseman Kalib Capecci (2006, 6'0") has been signed by the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The OHL is one of three leagues that make up the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), alongside the WHL and QMJHL. The OHL is a commonly regarded as a primary pipeline to the NHL, consistently producing more NHL players than any other development league in the world. Capecci became a member of the Tomahawks last season, appearing in 12 games, where he recorded one assist. The trajectory of Kalib's rapid development became evident early on this season in the NAHL, as he quickly became the key cog on the blue line for the Tomahawks. Through 35 games, Capecci was just under a point-per-game pace, recording nine goals and 23 assists for 32 points.

Since arriving in Johnstown halfway through last season, Kalib has rapidly established himself as one of the premier defenders in the North American Hockey League," said Gary Biggs, Tomahawks President of Hockey Operations."His relentless work ethic, outstanding character, and unwavering commitment to his development embodies everything it means to be a Johnstown Tomahawk. We believe that Kalib's best hockey is still ahead of him, and we couldn't be more excited to watch his journey continue in Sarnia and, ultimately at the NCAA level".

Over the course of the history of the Johnstown Tomahawks, there has been a few instances of players coming to the NAHL from the CHL, but it's a rare feat to have it take place the opposite way. Kalib has certainly made his mark on Johnstown, and he will be a name to keep an eye on for many years to come in the hockey world.
