
Wings Win 3-2, in Shootout

Aberdeen Wings News Release
The Aberdeen Wings were on new ice Friday night as they traveled to Richfield, Minnesota to take on the new expansion Minnesota Magicians.
In the first period, the Wings would go down a goal as the Magicians scored at the 7:12 mark. Five minutes later, while on the power play Aberdeen would answer back with a goal from #27 Erik Baskin (F-Minnetonka, MN) with assists from #24 Jonathan Grebosky (F-Pittsburgh, PA) and #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI).
The score would remain 1-1 throughout the second period. In the third, the Magicians would strike again at the 11:46 mark. With one minute left, coach Travis Winter would pull the goalie for an extra attacker. Continuing to battle to the buzzer, with just 4 seconds left Wings defenseman #4 Jake Horton (D-Plymouth, MN) would SCORE to tie the game. The last second assist coming from #11 TJ Roo (Champlain Park, MN).
Both teams would be scoreless in the 4-on-4 overtime moving the game to a shootout.
#14 Erik Gollenbeck (F-Mannheim, Germany) would be the first skater for the Wings and would score. The Magicians would not answer. Baskin would also attempt but come up short. The Magicians would not answer. Roo would give it a shot with no goal. The Magicians would not answer. A shootout goal by #25 Lennart Palausch (F-Mannheim, Germany) would put the pressure on Minnesota, and he would score in the shootout. Wings goaltender Chad Catt would stop the final chance for the Magicians as the Wings would win 3-2.
