Walleye Notes
Two Win, Two Loss Week! Toledo started the week with a one goal loss to Elmira at home Wednesday. The Jackals scored last in the third to down the Walleye 2-1. Toledo surrendered eight goals in an 8-2 loss Friday night at Reading. The Walleye collected a 7-6 overtime victory Saturday night in Trenton. Defenseman Jason Lepine assisted on three of Toledo's 7 goals. The seven goals were the most Toledo had scored since November 13th at Kalamazoo (8-0 win). The Walleye finished the week with another wild tilt, winning 6-5 in Elmira.
Overtime Magic! Walleye forward Tyler Doig scored his second goal of the game at 3:25 of overtime to give Toledo a 7-6 win Saturday night in Trenton. It was Toledo's third overtime win this season.
Finding the Offense! Toledo has scored 13 goals in the last two games. The Walleye had scored just 10 goals in the previous four games. Toledo lost three of those games. Forward Tyler Doig scored three of those goals, while Christopher DiDomenico added in two more.
Gametime! Toledo will start a six game home stand Friday night when the Walleye welcome in the Elmira Jackals. The Walleye have a record of 1-3-0 against the Jackals this year. After these two games, Toledo and Elmira will play just one more time this season (April 1st in Toledo). Toledo will wrap up the weekend with the Cincinnati Cyclones coming to town. Toledo is 4-3-1 against the Cyclones this season. The Walleye have outscored Cincinnati 19-15 in those games and the Walleye power play is 6 for 28 (21.4%).
Promotions! Tuesday night is another edition of the Toledo Walleye Coaches Show, 6-7pm at Pizza Papalis in Downtown Toledo. Walleye Defenseman Jason Lepine will join Head Coach Nick Vitucci and voice of the Walleye Matt Melzak. Friday night features the Zooperstars, plus a Collector's Commemorative Goalie Mask Giveaway presented by Huntington Bank! Saturday night is Military Appreciation Night presented by Stautzenberger College with a post-game Camo Jersey Auction! OSU"s Dane Sanzenbacher will make an appearance that night also.
