Toledo Storm Announces Scout Hiring

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the ECHL announced today the hiring of Jeff Mitchell and Ed Burkholder as Scouts for the 2003 - 2004 Toledo Storm.

Mike Miller, Vice President and General Manager of the Storm, said on the hiring's " With the constant changes that occur in Minor - Pro hockey over the course of a season, it is very important to have an idea of what players are out there and their skill level. You never know with call ups and injuries when a local player may be needed to join the hockey club quickly. Both Jeff and Ed will be instrumental throughout the year.

Jeff Mitchell, a native of Wayne, Michigan, spent part of the last two seasons as a Toledo Storm Player. He also appeared in the NHL during the 1997-98 season with the Dallas Stars. Mitchell appeared in 57 games for the Storm this past season finishing with 10 goals and 19 assists. This will be Mitchell's first season as a scout.

Ed Burkholder, from Welland, Ontario, has three years experience working as a scout. Burkholder has spent the last two seasons as a scout for the ECHL's Greenville Growl, including the 2002 Kelly Cup championship team. He started his scouting career in 2000 with the San Angelo Outlaws of the Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL).
