After losing the middle two games, Toledo rebounded to Sunday's game by scoring seven runs in the last three innings for a 9-2 win. Christin Stewart, Chad Huffman, Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Harold Castro led the charge with home runs. The blast from Stewart gives him the IL lead in home runs with 16 on the season.
Still rolling: Outfielder Jacob Robson has continued his hot hitting after the break with a .436 average with the Mud Hens. Detroit's number 26 prospect (according to mlb.com) had a huge Saturday in Indianapolis going 4-5 and finished with eight hits in 17AB in four games vs. the Indians. Nine of his 24 hits since his promotion have gone for extra bases.
Lugo to the big stage: Sunday Dawel Lugo started at third base for the World Team at the 2018 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, showing well with a hit in a pair of at bats. The 23-year-old is hitting .271 on the season with 37 RBI and 19 doubles for the Mud Hens.
Huffman powers at Huntington Park: Chad Huffman emerged victorious in the Triple-A Home Run Derby on Monday at Huntington Park, smashing 10 long balls in the championship round to claim his second belt in three appearances. The 33-year-old won the competition in 2009 as a member of the Portland Beavers.
Week ahead for the Hens: Toledo starts a seven-game home stand Monday night against the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Scranton will be in town through Wednesday before the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs come to Toledo for the four games to round out the week.
