LHP Mat Tomshaw promoted to Charlotte from Double-A Birmingham

LHP Matt Tomshaw was promoted to the Charlotte Knights today from Double-A Birmingham. A native of Kingston, NY, Tomshaw went 4-4 with a 5.38 ERA in 14 games started (80.1 IP) with the Barons this season. He is 2-1 with an 8.57 ERA in four starts (21.0 IP) with the Knights this season. The 29-year-old left-handed pitcher will start tonight's game for the Knights at BB&T Ballpark against the Pawtucket Red Sox.

Additionally, catcher Seby Zavala, who has appeared in 17 games with the Knights this season and is hitting .227 (15-for-66), was placed on Charlotte's disabled list (retroactive to 7/14). Catcher Brett Austin, a Charlotte, NC native, has been activated off the DL. Austin has appeared in five games with the Knights this season and is hitting .400 (6-for-15) with two RBIs.
