Tobs Send Three All-Stars to Fayetteville

WILSON N.C.- The Wilson Tobs are pleased to announce that three players from the 2011 team will be representing the team in the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game.

Ryan Mathews who leads the CPL in homeruns (11) will be the starting center fielder for Dirk Kinney's National Team. Mathews is a red-shirt junior from North Carolina State University. Mathews is hitting .310 with 9 doubles, 27 RBI he has stole 6 bases and also swatted those eleven homers.

Tony Wieber will also represent the Tobs on the National Team. Wieber was voted in as a closer. Tony has pitched 15.2 innings, with 22 strikeouts and only 8 walks. Wieber, a sophomore from Michigan State University, has also recorded 5 saves for the Tobs this summer. Wieber also swings a mean bat, swatting five doubles, two homers and knocking in 20.

Ryan Daughtry will make his second consecutive trip to the all-start game for Wilson. Daughtry will not play in the game due to an injury, which is season ending. Daughtry's numbers include a team high in batting average (.364), 7 doubles 4 HR and 17 RBI. Daughtry also had two hitting streaks that eclipsed the 10 game mark. Daughtry hit in 10 straight and 12 straight games. Daughtry also had the second longest on-base streak in Tobs CPL franchise history reaching safely in 26 consecutive ballgames.

The Coastal Plain League All-Star game will take place Monday July 18, 2011 at J.P. Riddle Stadium in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
