BURLINGTON, Iowa - Burlington RHP Blake Hassebrock fired seven scoreless innings to lead the Bees to a 3-1 win over the TinCaps, Thursday at Community Field. Wes Cunningham doubled twice for Fort Wayne.

RHP Adys Portillo pitched well for Fort Wayne but took the loss. He didn't give up a run until the fourth and worked into the seventh inning, his longest outing of the year.

The Bees got on the board in the fourth inning thanks to a two-out rally. Douglas Lendaeta roped a double off the third-base bag then scored when Yordy Cabrera looped an RBI single just over a leaping shortstop to give the Bees a 1-0 lead.

Fort Wayne had an opportunity in the second when Cunningham drove a two-out double over the left fielder's head, but he was stranded. In the sixth, B.J. Guinn reached on a leadoff bunt single but the TinCaps left him at third base.

The Bees tacked on a pair of runs in the seventh; after Jose Chrisotomo reached on a two-out infield single, Wade Kirkland cracked a homer to left to put the Bees ahead, 3-0.

The TinCaps rallied in the ninth. Chris Bisson drew a leadoff walk and Rico Noel followed with a double into the left-field corner to cut the deficit to 3-1. But RHP Zack Thornton got a strikeout and a flyout to end the game.

Hassebrock (5-5) struck out seven without a walk and allowed just three hits to pick up the win. Thornton grabbed his fourth save. Portillo (1-9) was saddled with the loss.

The TinCaps fell to 8-12 in the half, 38-51 for the season. Burlington snapped a six-game losing streak and improved to 7-13 since the all-star break, 52-38 for the year.

The TinCaps and Bees (Class-A Oakland Athletics) finish the series Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Community Field. Fort Wayne RHP Zach Cates (3-5) takes the ball against Bees RHP Sean Murphy (0-3).
