Davenport, Iowa-Tucker Barnhart's run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning broke an 8-8 tie and the Dayton Dragons went on to defeat the Quad Cities River Bandits 12-8 on Thursday night. The Dragons improved to 14-6 in the second half with the win and now lead the Eastern Division by two games. Dayton snapped Quad Cities' six-game winning streak with the victory.

The game featured four lead changes and ties at 4-4, 6-6, and 8-8. The two teams combined for 28 hits without committing an error.

With the score tied 8-8 in the ninth, David Vidal was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Jaren Matthews' sacrifice bunt moved Vidal to second, and Barnhart followed with a base hit to center to score Vidal and break the tie. Barnhart was picked off first base for the second out, but Theo Bowe walked and went to third on Billy Hamilton's single. Ronald Torreyes followed with a two-run double and then scored on Dominic D'Anna's single to make it 12-8. Drew Hayes pitched a perfect bottom of the ninth to close out the Dragons 10th win in their last 13 games.

The Dragons scored three runs in the top of the first inning to take an early lead. Hamilton singled up the middle to start the inning and stole second. He went to third on Torreyes' single to left, and scored on a sacrifice fly by D'Anna. Yorman Rodriguez then blasted a two-run home run to left field to make it 3-0. It was the eighth time in the last 10 games that the Dragons had scored to take the lead in the first inning.

Quad Cities answered with one run in the second to make it 3-1, and Cody Stanley belted a two-out, three-run home run in the third to give the River Bandits a 4-3 lead.

The Dragons tied the game in the fourth when Tucker Barnhart walked, went to third on Theo Bowe's single, and scored on Hamilton's ground out to make it 4-4. Quad Cities jumped right back in front in the bottom of the inning on back-to-back doubles by Victor Sanchez and Chris Edmondson to lead 5-4.

The Dragons took the lead in the fifth. Donald Lutz singled with two outs and went to third on David Vidal's double. After Jaren Matthews walked to load the bases, Tucker Barnhart singled to center to drive in two runs and give Dayton a 6-5 lead. But Quad Cities scored one in the sixth and one in the seventh to take a 7-6 lead.

The Dragons answered with two runs in the eighth. Yorman Rodriguez lined a two-run single to right-center field to make it 8-7, but the River Bandits came right back with a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 8-8 and set the stage for Barnhart's tie-breaking hit in the ninth.

Dragons starting pitcher Daniel Corcino struggled through his second straight outing, working five innings and allowing seven hits and five earned runs with two walks and six strikeouts. He was not involved in the decision.

The Dragons collected 15 hits. Torreyes and Rodriguez each had three. Rodriguez drove in four runs and Barnhart added three RBI.
