South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

Beloit, WI - The South Bend Silver Hawks lost to the Beloit Snappers 6-3 on Thursday night, dropping their tenth game in the last 11 tries. Mike Bolsinger struggled in the starting role and the offensive woes continued as the team managed just six hits in the losing cause.

Beloit jumped on Bolsinger (LP, 2-4) for five runs over four innings, chasing him from the game early. Jhonatan Arias had two hits, including a big two RBI double and Daniel Santana added a RBI triple to help the Snappers build a 5-0 lead after four innings.

Yazy Arbelo got the Silver Hawks on the board in the top of the sixth inning. After Niko Gallego reached on an error, Arbelo blasted a two run homer to straightaway center to make it a 5-2 game. The blast was Arbelo's 22nd on the season, tying him for second place on the Silver Hawks' single season home run leader board.

After Beloit got a run in the seventh inning, the Silver Hawks saw their final rally fall short in the ninth. Zach Walters walked, moved to second on an Arbelo groundout, and scored on a single from Raywilly Gomez. After Matt Helm was hit by a pitch to bring the tying run to the plate, Chris Jarrett and Roberto Ortiz struck out against Blayne Weller (ND) to end the game.

Beloit starter Adrian Salcedo (WP, 6-3) was in control from the beginning, allowing just two unearned runs over 7.0 innings. He only struck out two but didn't walk anyone in earning the win.

The Silver Hawks and Snappers wrap up the three game set with game three on Friday night at 8:00 PM Eastern Time. RHP Jeff Shields (4-9, 4.98 ERA) will start for South Bend against LHP Ryan O'Rourke (2-1, 1.98 ERA) of the Snappers. Pre-game coverage begins at 7:40 PM Eastern Time on www.sportsjuice.com and www.silverhawks.com.
