TinCaps Hit Homestand Midpoint with Shutout Loss

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne TinCaps hit the midpoint of their 12-game homestand on Sunday afternoon at Parkview Field after an 8-0 loss to the West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers affiliate).

TinCaps (15-24) left fielder Corey Rosier reached base twice with a pair of walks. He leads the Midwest League in that category on the season with 32 through 38 games played. Catcher Adam Kerner added a double, while shortstop Jarryd Dale and right fielder Matthew Acosta registered singles. Dale was also hit by a pitch and stole second base.

The Whitecaps (18-21) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and expanded their advantage with two runs in the fourth, another pair in the fifth, one in the seventh, and two more in the eighth. Ty Madden (No. 6 Tigers prospect) started and threw five innings with three strikeouts. Right fielder Jake Holton highlighted West Michigan's offensive effort with a two-run home run in the fifth. It was the 24-year-old's fourth consecutive game with a homer and fifth over six games in the series.

After a day off Monday, Fort Wayne continues its homestand Tuesday, opening up a six-game series against the Quad Cities River Bandits (Kansas City Royals affiliate).
