1ST HALF RECAP: The TinCaps wrapped up the first half of the season on a 3-game winning streak, finishing in 5th place in the MWL Eastern Division with a record of 32-37

ALL-STAR GAME: The TinCaps had 4 players in Tuesday's All-Star Game in Lansing, which the East Division won, 3-2, in 10. Aaron Leasher started the game for the East pitching 1 inning, not allowing a run, striking out 1, and allowing 1 hit to last year's 1st overall pick, Royce Lewis. Nick Margevicius pitched a perfect 4th. Travis Radke threw 2 pitches and collected the final out in the 7th. Catcher Luis Campusano came in during the 6th inning as a substitute for designated hitter Hendrik Clementina. Campy was 0-for-2 at the plate.

PITCHING & DEFENSE: Saturday was the first time all season the TinCaps won a game in which they scored 2 runs. Fort Wayne had been 0-21 in games in which they scored 2 or fewer runs. The 'Caps have scored 5+ runs in 22 of their 32 wins (69%).

BEST BALLPARK: The TinCaps and Parkview Field won Ballpark Digest's Best of the Ballparks Contest on Tuesday. Parkview Field defeated Four Winds Field in South Bend in the final round with 62% of the vote. The TinCaps won the subjective contest in 2016. South Bend stole the title last year. More objectively, Stadium Journey has named Parkview Field the best ballpark in all of Minor League Baseball 4 years in a row and 6 of the last 7 years.

ORNELAS ON BASE: Tirso Ornelas is on a 21-game on-base streak, which is the 2nd longest active streak in the Midwest League, and is tied as the longest such streak for a TinCap this season. Juan Fernandez reached base safely in his first 21 starts of the year, from April 5-May 15. (Lake County infielder Tyler Friis is currently on a 26-game streak. The longest in the league this year: 31 games, Michael Beltre, Dayton.) Since May 24, Ornelas has hit .307 with a .418 OBP. He has 6 doubles, 2 triples, 3 homers, and 11 RBIs during the run. Maybe most impressive, he's walked as many times (13) as he's struck out (13) in the stretch.

HOME SWEET HOME: The TinCaps are amidst a 10-game stretch of game at Parkview Field after sweeping Great Lakes at home to end the first half. The TinCaps are 21-14 at home this season, which includes winning 13 of their last 17 here. Fort Wayne is slashing .262/.347/.366 at home this year compared to .216/.298/.317 on the road. The 'Caps have averaged 5.1 runs per game at home and 3.6 per game on the road. Individually, Luis Campusano is leading the way at home with a .365/.433/.471 line, while Tirso Ornelas is at .327/.441/.439.

LEAGUE LEADERS: Jeisson Rosario is 6th in runs (42) and 8th in walks (38)... Esteury Ruiz 3rd in stolen bases (20).

ADVANCED STATS LEAGUE LEADERS: Jeisson Rosario is 7th in Line Drive % (25%) and 10th in BB% (15%)... Tirso Ornelas is 7th lowest in Swing and Miss% (7%).

BULLPEN BOOMERANG: TinCaps relievers have posted an 3.28 ERA in their last 50 games. In this time, the 'pen has been led by Travis Radke, Caleb Boushley, Evan Miller, and Ben Sheckler. Through the first 19 games of the year, the bullpen had a 7.47 ERA.
