ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The TinCaps beat the Loons, 4-1. After Great Lakes started the scoring in the first, Grant Little tied the game in the second with an RBI double. Tucupita Marcano gave the 'Caps a 2-1 lead in the fifth with a run-scoring groundout to plate Jawuan Harris, who had tripled. In the eighth, Lee Solomon hit a 2-run double for insurance. Efraín Contreras started and went 5 innings with Jose Quezada and Carlos Belen (save) each working 2 after that.

DEBUT: Brandon Komar, who was added to Fort Wayne's roster from the Arizona League on Saturday as Gabe Mosser was promoted to High-A Lake Elsinore, will make his TinCaps debut on the mound today. Komar's hometown of Elkhorn, WI, is about 6 hours away from here by car. He'll have family and friends in attendance. See Page 3 for more on Komar, who is the 2nd member of San Diego's 2019 draft class to join the team, along with Matt Brash.

ANOTHER ONE: Komar is the 10th different TinCaps starting pitcher this year. He's also the 41st player to appear for the 'Caps in 2019 (now 17 position players + 24 pitchers).

AGAINST LEFTIES: The TinCaps have slashed .240/.332/.315 (.647 OPS) against southpaws this season, while slashing .246/.329/.355 (.684 OPS) versus righties. Individually, Blake Hunt has the team's highest OPS (.836) against lefties (he's at .700 vs. RHP).

X IS A FACTOR: Infielder Xavier Edwards was the MWL Eastern Division's leadoff batter and starting second baseman in the All-Star Game and this explains why... The 19-year-old leads the league in batting average (.337 - no one else is hitting higher than .306) and OBP (.393), while ranking 4th in stolen bases (20)... Edwards also has the 2nd lowest swinging strike % (4%), the 3rd lowest K% (10%), and the 5th best BB/K (0.86)... 47% of the balls he's put into play have been hit the opposite way, the highest rate in the league... Edwards is currently on an 10-game on-base streak, slashing.405/.457/.619 (1.076 OPS) since June 26 with 2 doubles, 2 triples, a homer, and 4 RBIs. He's walked 4 times and struck out only once, while also stealing 2 bases.

MAKING HIS MARK: Infielder Tucupita Marcano has the 2nd lowest K% (10%) and 3rd lowest swinging strike % (4%) in the MWL.

LITTLE BIG: Outfielder Grant Little tied a career-high with 4 hits on Saturday. His only other 4-hit game as a pro came on May 20 against South Bend. After a pair of doubles Saturday, Little has 7 doubles in 15 second-half games. (He had 7 doubles in 48 games before the All-Star break.)

HOT CURRY: In 32 games since May 26, Michael Curry has slashed

.275/.380/.441 (.821 OPS) - the 10th highest OPS in the MWL in this time.

CATCHING UP: After starting the season 0-for-18 at the plate, catcher Juan Fernandez is 33-for-97 (.340).

WALK & RUN: Center fielder Jawuan Harris ranks 2nd in the MWL in BB% (17%) and tied for 7th in stolen bases with 17.

IN CONTROL: TinCaps pitchers have the best ratio of strikeouts to walks in the MWL this season (3.08). 'Caps pitchers have also walked the fewest batters in the MWL, averaging only 3.0 per 9 innings.
