LAST NIGHT: The TinCaps fell to the Loons, 4-2. Fort Wayne led early thanks to a Corey Rosier leadoff home run. The TinCaps were up 2-1 as late as the 8thbut couldn't hold on.

CLINCHER: After the Loons defeated the TinCaps, they watched as Dayton lost the second game of its doubleheader to Lake County. The combination of results clinched a playoff spot for Great Lakes, which began the season 2-7 and trailed by 8.5 games two weeks prior (June 8). Beginning Sept. 13, the Loons will take on the East Division's second-half winner in a best-of-3 series. (East champ will then play the West winner.)

COREY ROSIER: Ranks 2nd in the MWL in runs (45), 5th in walks (38; 16%) and stolen bases (20)...4th in BB/K (0.84)... With a hit tonight, would match longest hitting streak of season at 5 games.

ROBERT HASSELL: Leads the MWL in batting average (.304), while ranking 3rd in hits (63), 6th in stolen bases (18), RBIs (38), and SLG (.495), and 9th in OPS (.856)... 9th in wRC+ (138)... 9th lowest swinging strike % (9%)... Started each of the team's first 40 games... After not playing 2 games, from May 28 to June 19, went on a 10-game hitting streak (with a 2-week absence along the way due to Covid). Over those 10 games, had 7 doubles, 1 triple, 2 homers, and 11 RBIs.

LUCAS DUNN: Since the beginning of the Lansing series, over his last 8 games, has slashed .314 / .368 / .486 (.854 OPS) with 4 XBH and 7 RBIs. His batting average leads the team over that stretch, minimum 25 ABs.

CONTACT: The TinCaps have struck out the 2nd fewest times in the MWL (8.6 per game). Fort Wayne ranks 4th in walks drawn (4.1 per game).

The only other time Fort Wayne accrued 22 hits in a game was April 29, 1998, also at Lansing... Meanwhile, Sunday also marked a season-high for runs scored and the team's largest margin of victory since 2018.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Robert Gasser book-ended the series in Lansing with wins, combing for 12 scoreless innings. This performance earned him Midwest League Pitcher of the Week as he tallied 12 Ks and just four hits and three walks.

260 TO THE SHOW: Since Fort Wayne's franchise was established in 1993, there have been 206 alumni who've gone on to appear in the major leagues, including 49 this season... On Sunday, Jack Suwinski (2017-18) hit 3 home runs, including a walk-off, for the Pirates against the Giants...
