FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Bowling Green Hot Rods scored five runs in the fifth inning on their way to a 7-5 win over the TinCaps, Sunday at Bowling Green Ballpark. Edinson Rincon and Griffin Benedict cracked two-run homers for Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne took the lead in the top of the first inning. Dean Anna drew a leadoff walk, stole second and scored when Nate Freiman doubled into the right-field corner to make it 1-0.

Bowling Green tied it in the fourth. Ty Morrison reached on a bunt single for the Hot Rods' first hit and stole second base. An error on Mark Thomas' ground ball allowed Morrison to score the tying run.

The Hot Rods erupted in the fifth inning, swatting four doubles. Tomas Francisco led off with a two-bagger and two batters later, Kyle Spraker doubled him home to put the Hot Rods ahead, 2- 1. After a walk, Morrison doubled home a run and Brett Nommensen followed with a two-run double of his own to make it 5-1. Julio Cedeno's RBI single to left gave Bowling Green a 6-1 advantage.

Rincon's two-run blast in the sixth inning closed the gap to 6-3, but Bowling Green got a run in the eighth on an RBI single by Francisco.

With two outs in the ninth, Griffin Benedict launched a two-run homer to make it a 7-5 game, but that was as close as it would get.

Bowling Green RHP Albert Suarez (1-5) picked up his first win of the year, delivering five strong innings. TinCaps LHP Mike Watt (5-6) took the loss. RHP Tyree Hayes picked up his first save.

Fort Wayne fell to 38-24 in the half, 74-58 for the season. The Hot Rods improved to 25-37 in the second half, 56-75 for the year.
