
Kernels snap streak against River Bandits, 5-2

Davenport, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels snapped a four game losing streak with a 5-2 win over the Quad Cities River Bandits on Sunday afternoon at Modern Woodman Park in Davenport. Kernels starter Stephen Locke (8-7) picked up his eighth win of the season, allowing two runs on five hits and strikng out seven over 7 IP.
Randal Grichuk led the Kernels offense, going 2-4 with a two run homer in the eighth inning and Michael Wing hit a solo home run in the sixth inning. Casey Haerther went 2-3 with a double and Dwayne Bailey went 2-3 with a double and stolen base.
Young-Il Jung and David Carpenter worked the final two innings in relief of Locke with Carpenter picking up his sixth save. Quad Cities starter Michael Blazek (7-4) took the loss, allowing an unearned run on four hits over 5 IP and Edgar Lara was 1-4 with a solo home run.
The Kernels and River Bandits continue their four game series on Monday night from Modern Woodman Park in Davenport with first pitch set for 7:00 pm.
