Victor Diaz drove in four runs and Freddy Guzman had a single, double and triple Sunday afternoon in the Oklahoma RedHawks' 7-2 win over the Round Rock Express at The Dell Diamond. Oklahoma (8-9) has taken the first two games of the series. Round Rock (9-9) has dropped four straight.
RedHawks starter John Koronka (1-2) pitched seven innings for the win to snap a two-start losing streak. Koronka allowed two runs on four hits, allowing just one hit after the third inning.
Express starter Fernando Nieve (1-2) needed 99 pitches to get through three-plus innings, allowing six runs (three earned) on five hits, with five walks and two strikeouts.
Diaz had a RedHawks season-high four RBIs in the first four innings, running his team-leading total to 18. Oklahoma took a 4-0 lead through two innings, allowed two Round Rock runs in the third, then added two in the fourth and one in the fifth.
Guzman went 3-for-3 two walks, lacking a home run for a cycle. Oklahoma out-hit Round Rock 10-5 and the RedHawks went 5-for-13 with runners in scoring position.
Game three is Monday at 7:05 p.m. at The Dell Diamond with right-hander Mike Wood slated to pitch for Oklahoma against the Express' Juan Gutierrez.
