TODAY'S OPPONENT:
The Round Rock Express are the Triple-A affiliate of Houston Astros. The have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 2005. Express was the Double-A affiliate for Houston 2000-2004. Last year, Round Rock finished first in the American South with a record of 85-59.
TODAY'S GAME:
Game 17 of the season, and second game of four-game road trip.
LAST GAME:
RedHawks rallied to win 6-5. Express jumped out to a 5-0 lead against 'Hawk starter Francisco Cruceta. RedHawks scored four in the seventh, highlighted by Jason Botts' two-run homer, to pull within a run. 'Hawks scored again in the eighth to tie the game, and they scored the go-ahead run in the ninth on Guillermo Quiroz's RBI single. Frank Francisco struck out five in the final two innings for the win.
VS. ROUND ROCK:
The Express won the season series last year 10-6, and lead the overall series 20-12. RedHawk hitters hit .248 with 11 homers vs. Express pitching last year. 'Hawk pitchers had a 4.22 ERA vs. the Express.
PITCHING MATCHUP:
John Koronka makes his third start of the season for the RedHawks. Koronka lost his last start giving up seven runs (five earned) in four innings 4/16 vs. Memphis. Fernando Nieve takes the mound for the Express.
LEAVING THEM LOADED:
The RedHawks are still looking for their first hit with the bases loaded (0-13) with four RBIs this season.
BOTTS GOES YARD:
Botts' two-run homer was his first of the season and the first for the RedHawks in four games. The RedHawks only have five as a team this season. The RedHawks are last in the PCL with only five team home runs on the season. Last season, RedHawks hit 20 home runs in April.
BYRD FLYING HIGH:
RedHawk OF Marlon Byrd is 10-for-20 with two doubles, a triple, an RBI and two runs scored in the last five games.
GETTING ON BASE:
CF Freddy Guzman has reached base in 13 consecutive games by hit or walk. Guzman went 0-for-3 with a walk and a HBP yesterday.
SHUTTIN' 'EM DOWN:
Francisco struck out five batters in two innings for the win yesterday. For the season, the bullpen has pitched 48.1 innings and allowed only five runs with 53 strikeouts. 'Hawk relievers have a combined ERA of 0.93 on the season.
BIG INNING BITES STARTERS:
'Hawk starters have had trouble avoiding the big inning this season. They've allowed three or more runs in an inning nine times this season. The starters are 3-7 combined with a 5.03 ERA.
JUST GET TO THE SEVENTH:
The RedHawks have been outscored by their opponents 58-33 in the first six innings this season, but the 'Hawks have outscored their opponents 20-3 the final three innings. 'Hawks were down 5-0 after six innings yesterday, but they rallied for six runs in the final three innings for the win.

: Drew Meyer and David Matranga each have five-game hit streaks going ... Ramon Vazquez has six doubles in the last six games ... 'Hawks are hitting .176 (25-176) on the season with RISP ... They were 3-for-12 last night ... The four runs in the seventh are the most in a single inning for the RedHawks this season ... Francisco has 14 strikouts in six innings and hasn't allowed a run.
