CARSON, Calif. - The Portland Timbers Reserves received goals from forwards Sebastián RincÃ"n and Brent Richards as they played the Chivas USA Reserves to a 2-2 draw in MLS Reserve League play at The Home Depot Center's Track and Field Stadium on Monday.

The Timbers Reserves (2-3-1, 7pts) twice took a lead against the Chivas USA Reserves (2-1-2, 8pts) on the goals by RincÃ"n and Richards in the 13th and 57th minutes, respectively. But the Chivas USA Reserves were able to answer each Portland goal with equalizing strikes from Casey Townsend in the first half and Sebastian Stachnik in the 69th minute to earn a share of the points.

A cross from the right side by former Chivas USA player Sal Zizzo set up the Timbers Reserves' opening strike by RincÃ"n. Left alone on the back side, RincÃ"n tapped in Zizzo's cross from close range past Chivas USA goalkeeper Tim Melia for a 1-0 Portland lead.

The Chivas USA Reserves were able to pull even in the 29th minute, as Scott Gordon's service from the right side connected with Townsend just outside the six yard box. Townsend converted his second goal of the MLS Reserve League season and the two sides entered halftime even at 1-1.

The Timbers Reserves regained the lead just before the hour mark, when defender Ryan Kawulok set up Richards for his second MLS Reserve League goal. Richards worked his way through the box to connect with Kawulok's pass in and Richards was able to drill the ball past Melia.

A corner kick by midfielder Laurent Courtois led to a second equalizing goal for Chivas USA Reserves in the 69th minute. Stachnik worked himself to the back post on the play and his header beat Timbers goalkeeper Joe Bendik, knotting the score at 2-2.

The Timbers Reserves play host to the Chivas USA Reserves in their next match on Sunday, July 29, at JELD-WEN Field; kickoff is set for 2 p.m. (Pacific).
