Tillman Shuts Down Sea Dogs

(Portland, ME) - Chris Tillman shut down the Sea Dogs in his longest outing of the season, allowing just one hit and three walks in six innings. The Baysox scored five runs in the third inning and coasted to a 7-3 victory.

Brian Peterson singled to lead off the third inning and Kennard Jones drew a walk. Both runners advanced when Travis Brown grounded out to the pitcher. Jonathan Tucker hit a two RBI triple to right and scored on a Carlos Rojas single. Lou Montanez doubled to right to drive in Rojas, but was thrown out trying to go to third on the play. Jeff Nettles scored the final run of the inning on a homerun left center. It was the first time this season a Baysox player has hit homeruns in consecutive games.

The Baysox would add another run in the fourth inning on a Travis Brown single and would score their final run on a Ryan Finan single in the seventh inning. The Baysox led 7-0 heading into the bottom the seventh.

Ryan Khoury drove in the first two Sea Dogs runs in the seventh inning with a two-out double to left off Jason Burch. Portland would add another run in the ninth on an Andrew Pinckney single off Kam Mickolio.

With the victory, the Baysox improve to 19-16 and remain 2.5 games behind Harrisburg in the Southern Division. The teams will meet again Saturday at 1:00 p.m. RHP Kyle Schmidt (0-0, 3.38) will make his second start for the Baysox. RHP Justin Masterson (1-2, 3.25 ERA) will start for the Sea Dogs.
