Tigers Sneak by Rebels 3-2
January 31, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Medicine Hat Tigers News Release
The Tigers finished off the weekend with a matchup against the Red Deer Rebels. It's the fourth of eight meetings between the two clubs this season. The Tigers looked to continue their winning ways against the Rebels having won two of the three meetings this year and sweeping last year's season series.
The Tigers scored the lone goal of the first period 3:13 into the frame. Noah Danielson flew down the right wing and let a laser beam of a wrister go that found the top corner glove side for his 10th of the season. Brendan Lee and Daniel Baker picked up the assists on the opening marker.
Red Deer controlled the second period and scored a pair of goals to take a 2-1 lead into the third. Arshdeep Bains evened up the game 8:14 into the second with his 20th of the campaign. Jackson van de Leest let a slapshot go from the point and Bains was able to shoot in the rebound as he skated through the crease. A few minutes later the Rebels took a lead when Liam Keeler skated in and wristed a shot top corner from the faceoff dot.
The Tigers came out swinging in the third period. They scored an early goal to even things up at two apiece. Logan Barlage continued his scoring ways in the orange and black as he grabbed a rebound off Daniel Baker's shot and put away his 11th on a wrap around. Barlage would strike again midway through the period to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead. Barlage was able stretch out with his stick to redirect Brendan Lee's shot pass for his fifth in four games with the Tigers. Daniel Baker picked up his third assist of the game on the go ahead goal. The Tigers defence was able to clamp down for the back half of the period to secure the victory.
Beckett Langkow (3-9-1-1) picked up the win in net for the Tigers. He had a great game making 33 saves on 35 shots.
