Saskatoon, SK - In the shadow of his memorial statue, Ridly Greig collected the infamous "Gordie Howe Hat-Trick" in a 3-0 Wheat Kings win in Saskatoon on Sunday.

Greig (1G-1A) and Nate Danielson (2A) each had multi-point nights while Vinny Iorio scored in his third consecutive game to help the Wheat Kings snap the Blades' four-game winning streak.

"We played a real solid road game here tonight," said Head Coach Don MacGillivray. "We had some good minutes from a lot of guys tonight. We ran four lines and six defensemen. We made some good decisions, got some good goaltending and we kept their powerplay off the board... That's about as perfect of a road game as you can ask for."

Ethan Kruger made 23 saves for his first shutout since January 28th, 2020. The Sherwood Park, AB native now has four career shutouts.

"Krugs was solid," added MacGillivray. "He was a vacuum back there. He saw the puck all night, played the puck well and he gives us a huge confidence boost when he is on his game."

The win was the 20th of the season for the Wheat Kings, who move into a tie with the Blades for 5th place in the Eastern Conference with 44 points, six back of the Moose Jaw Warriors with five games in hand.

Brandon hasn't played at home since December 30th, and since embarking on this month-long stretch of road games, has posted a 4-1-1 record.

"We showed a lot of good signs here in these last six road games and there is a lot we can build on," added MacGillivray. "I hope we can get some home games in here and keep playing hard for our fans in our own building."

The Wheat Kings are scheduled to welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers, Moose Jaw Warriors, and Red Deer Rebels next weekend.
