Medicine Hat Tigers News Release

Medicine Hat, AB - After a strong 1st period, the Medicine Hat Tigers weren't able to keep momentum in their favour, falling 5-2 to the Calgary Hitmen Saturday night.

Cayden Lindstrom (Chetwynd, BC) would open the scoring on a brilliant offensive effort beating Hitmen starter Ethan Buenaventura on a break-away 10:37 in to make 1-0 Tigers and they'd carry that lead heading into the 2nd period, Brayden Boehm (Nanaimo, BC) & Dallon Melin (Czar, AB) would tally assists on the Tigers goal.

Off to the 2nd frame where after killing off a penalty, the Tigers would surrender Calgary's first goal of the night thanks to Zac Funk at 2:23 to tie things at 1-1, but the Hitmen would continue to pressure on in a 15 shot second period leading to a Sean Tschigerl power play goal and David Adasynzki marker to give Calgary a 3-1 lead heading to the third.

The Tigers would start the 3rd on a 5 on 3 penalty kill and the Hitmen would make quick work as Riley Fiddler-Schultz would cash in to make 4-1 Hitmen just 1:07 into the final frame.

Despite a valiant effort of pressure the Tigers could not solve Buenaventura till the 17:56 when Shane Smith (Cessford, AB) would make things interesting cutting the lead at 4-2 on a 4 on 4, but on the power play that followed the 4 on 4 Carter Yakemchuk would seal things off giving the Hitmen a 5-2 win on the road at Co-op Place.

Special Teams was the difference Saturday as the Hitmen went 3/7 on the power play while Medicine Hat failed to score going 0/6. Tigers starter Evan May would make 27 saves in the loss.

It's a tight turn for the Tigers Sunday afternoon at home as for the 3rd time this season, the Prince Albert Raiders will lock horns with the Tigers at 4PM. Medicine Hat will look for their 1st win against the Raiders as Prince have taken the first two meetings on November 8th (3-1) & November 19th (5-4).
