Everett Silvertips News Release

SPOKANE, Wash. - Austin Roest recorded his first career Western Hockey League Hat Trick as the Everett Silvertips' offense erupted, taking down the Spokane Chiefs 8-3 Sunday night in the Lilac City.

Vincent Lamanna opened the scoring for Everett 1:31 into play, banging in a rebound for his third goal of the season. Jesse Heslop would give the Tips a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission, capping off a slick cross-slot feed from Roest for his fourth of the year.

Roest struck for his first of the game just nine seconds into the second period. Olen Zellweger would extend the Tips' lead to 4-0 with a powerplay goal at 7:40, tapping in a loose puck in front of the net for his 10th goal of the year. Roest would tack on the next two goals to complete the hat trick- first a wrist-shot snipe at 9:25 on which Carter Bear earned his first WHL point, then capitalizing on a cross-ice feed from Julien Maze (also his first WHL point). With the three-goal outing, Roest now leads the team with 16 goals on the year.

Ryan Hofer would deflect a shot from the point for his 13th of the season for a 7-0 Everett lead after two.

Though Ty Cheveldayoff scored twice in the third period, Aidan Sutter would tack on the eighth Silvertips goal at 15:17 in the final frame. Tim Metzger would stop 29 of 32 for his third career win as the Tips rolled to an 8-3 final.

Jackson Berezowski finished with four assists in the game. Jesse Heslop ended with three total points, including a goal and two assists.

Everett returns to Angel of the Winds Arena Saturday night to host the Portland Winterhawks, followed by a home game Sunday against the Kelowna Rockets. Tickets are available.
