Tiger-Cats Re-Sign All-Star Defensive Tackle Laurent to a Two-Year Contract

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Tuesday that the football club has re-signed national defensive tackle Ted Laurent to a two-year contract. Laurent was eligible to become a free agent at 12 p.m. (noon) today.

Laurent, 30, made 12 starts at defensive tackle for the Tiger-Cats last season, posting 13 defensive tackles, four quarterback sacks, five quarterback pressures one tackle for loss and one forced fumble.

The 6-1, 299-pound native of Powder Springs, Georgia, has appeared in 110 career CFL games (92 starts) during his seven-year career with the Edmonton Eskimos (2011-13) and Tiger-Cats, registering 150 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, 35 quarterback sacks, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Laurent is a two-time CFL All-star (2014, 2015), four-time Divisional All-Star (2012, 2014, 2015, 2016) and was named the Tiger-Cats Most Outstanding Canadian in both 2014 and 2015.

The University of Mississippi product was originally selected by the Eskimos in the 2011 CFL Supplemental Draft in exchange for a second round pick in the 2012 CFL Draft. His Tiger-Cats tenure began on June 1, 2014, when he signed as a free agent.
