INDIANAPOLIS -- Starting pitcher Chris Tillman struck out nine Indianapolis Indians' batters and held the Tribe to just one run in 6.2 innings of work, while all nine Norfolk Tides starters recorded at least one base hit en route to a 9-1 victory on Monday night at Victory Field.

The loss drops the Indians' record to 58-59 on the season, while the victory improves the Tides' mark to 54-63 on the year. The win also ups Norfolk's season record to 4-1 against Indianapolis this season after the Tides took three of four games at Harbor Park earlier this month.

Tillman (6.2 IP, 8 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 SO), who struck out at least one batter in six of his seven innings of work, improved his season record to 9-7 on the year with the victory. Relievers Alberto Castillo (1.0 IP, 0 R, 1 BB) and Frank Mata (1.1 IP, 0 R, 1 SO) combined to hold the Tribe scoreless over the final 2.1 innings of play to close out the contest and preserve the victory for Tillman.

Norfolk jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead courtesy of a two-run home run off the bat of 3B Scott Moore in the top of the second inning. With DH Michael Aubrey standing at second base with two outs, Moore unloaded on the fourth pitch of his plate appearance for his sixth home run of the year to give the Tides a two-run advantage.

After scoring a single run in the top half of the third inning, the Tides tacked on four more scores in the fourth frame to take a commanding 7-0 lead.

With runners standing at second and third with one out in the inning, 2B Paco Figueroa lined a single to left field to up Norfolk's lead to 4-0, before CF Matt Angle tripled home two more runs to lift the Tides to a 6-0 advantage. Norfolk later capped its scoring in the inning on a sacrifice fly to center field by former Indians' OF Jeff Salazar that plated Angle and gave the Tides a commanding 7-0 edge.

Indianapolis scratched across its lone run of the contest in the home half of the fourth inning, when following two routine outs to open the inning, LF Brandon Moss and RF John Bowker strung together back-to-back singles to put runners at first and third before DH Mitch Jones lined a base knock to left field to plate the Tribe's only run of evening.

The Tides then plated their eighth run of the contest with a single score in the top half of the sixth inning as Angle laced a two-out single to center field to start the rally, before he scampered home one batter later on Andino's second triple of the contest.

Norfolk later upped its advantage to 9-1 in the top of the ninth when C Adam Donachie launched his seventh double of the season out to deep center field to plate 1B Brandon Snyder, who led-off the frame with his 17th two-bagger of the year.

Indians' starter Jeremy Powell (3.1 IP, 10 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO) was strapped with his eighth loss of the season after he allowed seven runs on 10 hits in 3.1 innings of work, while LHP Daniel Moskos (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 1 SO) and RHP Jean Machi (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 SO) each turned in a scoreless inning of relief out of the Tribe bullpen.

In a game that saw 16 total batters record at least one base hit, Bowker (2-for-4, 1 2B) was the only Tribe hitter to collect more than one hit in the contest, while four different Tides' batters notched at least two hits, with Angle (4-for-5, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 3B, 2 RBI, 1 BB) registering a four-hit evening and falling just a home run short of the cycle for Norfolk.

The Indians continue their four-game series against the Norfolk Tides on Tuesday, August 10 at 7:00 p.m. RHP Joe Martinez is expected to get the start for the Tribe, while LHP Chris George is the probable starter for the Tides.

The contest will be carried by WXLW-950 AM and broadcast live on Comcast and Bright House Networks digital channel 81 with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley on the call. The pre-game show on WXLW-950 AM begins at 6:40 p.m.

Post-game quotes -- OF John Bowker

(on tonight's performance)

"We had a long travel day so I think a lot of the guys were tired. We came out and battled but we obviously didn't come out on top. There is always tomorrow."

(on his recent success at the plate)

"I am just relaxing when I go out there. This is a fun group of guys and I've had fun since I've been here. I feel really good at the plate and want to keep that going."

(on his first game at Victory Field)

"It was a lot of fun playing out there. The stadium is really cool with all the fans in it. I have never been on the International League side so its cool being on the east coast playing."
