Syracuse Mets News Release

The Syracuse Chiefs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, are pleased to announce that players and members of the front office staff will be visiting children at University Hospital in Syracuse at 11 AM Monday morning. This marks the 43rd straight year that Chiefs players will be making a visit to the hospital.

"This is a great opportunity for our players to make a positive impact on the community," said Chiefs General Manager John Simone. "They look forward to this day every year because they can share their baseball experiences and help to make a child's day."

Late Chiefs board member Harold Berman co-founded the trip with Chiefs Executive Vice President Tex Simone 42 years ago to pair his love for children with his passion for baseball. Berman and Simone met at a hospital, became friends and developed the tradition.

Last year, Chiefs Executive Vice President Tex Simone made the visit along with players Elijah Dukes, Brad Eldred, Marco Estrada, Andrew Kown, Mike Vento, and current infielder Pete Orr.

Monday night is also Silly Bandz Night at Alliance Bank Stadium as the Chiefs will host the Columbus Clippers. The first 500 children 12 and younger into the park will receive Silly Bandz compliments of Cortland Self Storage, The Chocolate Pizza Company, and Jodie's Hallmark.

The gates open at 6:00 for a 7:00 first pitch. Tickets are still available at the stadium box office, by phone at 474-7833, or online at syracusechiefs.com
