Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM - Bulls starting pitcher Tobias Myers struck out ten batters over five-plus innings pitched and designated hitter Brett Sullivan smashed a home run in his second straight contest, however Tides third baseman Tyler Nevin and catcher Adley Rutschman each went deep in Norfolk's 3-1 win over Durham on Tuesday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The Tides plated single tallies in the second and fourth frames to go ahead 2-0. Sullivan would then crushed a solo shot to right-center in the sixth to cut their deficit to 2-1. Rutschman would later leave the yard with a solo blast to left in the eighth to make it 3-1.
Sullivan has gone deep in each of his last two contests dating back to September 5. RF Josh Lowe (2-3) was the lone Bulls batter to record a multi-hit effort. Durham has also bashed at least one home run in each of their last nine games dating back to August 28.
Myers (5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 10 K) fanned ten over five-plus frames, suffering the defeat. Relievers Kenny Rosenberg (2.2 IP, 3 H, R, ER, 2 BB, 4 K), Phoenix Sanders (0.1 IP, K) and Brian Moran (1.0 IP, 2 K) combined for seven punchouts to push Durham's total to 17. Norfolk southpaw Ryan Hartman (5.0 IP, 2 H, R, ER, 0 BB, 5 K) earned the victory.
The two teams are slated to face off again on Wednesday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35pm. RHP Aaron Slegers (0-0, 6.75) is expected to toe the rubber for the Bulls, while LHP Kevin Smith (3-4, 5.28) is slated to start for the Tides. Tickets for that game, as well as all remaining Bulls home games are available and can be purchased at DurhamBulls.com.
