Norfolk Tides News Release

The Rochester Red Wings scored two runs in each of the first three innings, rolling to an 8-1 win over the Tides Monday night from Harbor Park.

Miguel Perez (0-1), who was called up from Double-A Binghamton earlier in the day, struggled and took the loss in his Tides debut. The Red Wings touched him up for six runs (five earned) on six hits in 2.2 innings of work, as the Tides fell to 2-6 on their current nine-game homestand. Perez walked four batters, throwing 88 pitches, 47 for strikes.

The Tides plated their run in the bottom of the second inning, as Julio Ramirez, Chris Basak and Todd Self hit consecutive two-out singles to bring the Tides within 4-1. Norfolk had seven base hits on the evening, all of which were singles.

Juan Perez and Bartolome Fortunato each pitched very well in defeat for the Tides, as the pair combined to allow just two runs on five hits in 6.1 innings of work. Perez worked 3.1 innings and Fortunato worked 3.0 innings, both of which were season-highs.

Norfolk concludes their nine-game homestand with the finale of their four game set with the Red Wings. Virginia Beach native Tim LaVigne (0-1, 3.45) will make the spot start for the Tides against Rochester right-hander Boof Bonser (2-1, 1.52). Game time is set for 12:15 p.m.
