
Denorfia, Michalak win Bats monthly awards

Louisville, KY - Outfielder Chris Denorfia and LHP Chris Michalak have been named Hitter and Pitcher-of-the-Month for April for the Louisville Bats.
During the month of April, Denorfia batted a team high .351 with 11 runs scored, 10 RBI, five doubles, and three home runs. Chris has reached base safely in all but one of the 20 games he has played in for Louisville.
The 25-year-old Denorfia began the season with Cincinnati where he appeared in three games, going 2-for-2 in two pinch-hit appearances before being optioned to Louisville April 8.
Michalak was 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA in four games started for the Bats during the month of April. Three of Michalak's four starts were quality starts and the Bats were 3-1 in the games in which Michalak pitched.
Michalak, a native of Joliet, IL, was signed by the Reds on February 28, 2006 to a minor league contract. He spent all of 2005 with Tucson of the Pacific Coast League, where he led the league in complete games (3) and finished third in innings pitched (165.0).
