Ticats Take Lumsden With First Round Pick

Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats Football Club has drafted McMaster star running back Jesse Lumsden with their first round pick (6th overall) in the 2005 CFL Canadian College Draft today.

Lumsden was awarded the 2004 Hec Crighton Trophy last season after one of the greatest seasons in CIS football history. Last season, the 6'2", 226-pound running back set the Canadian Interuniversity Sport single-season rushing record with 1,816 yards, single-season touchdown record (21) and career touchdown record (43). Lumsden also set a new Ontario University Athletics career rushing mark with 4,328 yards.

Lumsden, a 22-year old native of Burlington, Ontario, signed a free-agent contract with the NFL's Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
