
Thurston Leads Phillies Farmhands

OTTAWA - Joe Thurston tied a team record this week and the Philadelphia Phillies noticed. The Lynx second baseman has been named the Philadelphia Phillies Minor League Player of the Week for the week ending June 17th.
Thurston, 27, hit .455 with three runs batted in and six runs scored for the Lynx last week, including a team-record-tying five hits Sunday afternoon against Columbus. He is hitting .266 with 1 HR and 28 RBI in 64 games with the Lynx this season.
Thurston is the third Lynx player to be named Minor League Player of the Week this season. Jason Jaramillo got the nod for the week ending April 22nd and the now-retired Lou Collier took home the honour for the week ending May 13th.
