Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
Chillicothe, OH - The ThunderBolts were felled for the second straight night as Chillicothe drummed up at least one run in each of the first 4 frames Monday. The Paints scrapped the Bolts' chances of winning 4 straight series. The final score was 8-0 from VA Memorial Stadium.
Chillicothe righty John Martinez tallied his Frontier League-best 12th win of the season with 7 scoreless innings. He recorded a season-high 8 strikeouts and permitted just 4 hits and a single walk.
In the 1st, Chillicothe got its 1st run as Juan Downing bounced a ball to first that Nick Klusaw couldn't handle. That sent Jose Rodriguez plateward. In the second, Rodriguez notched an RBI single of his own off of Bolts starter Scott Anderson. In the next frame, a John Ramistella RBI triple rammed the lead to 3-zip. It became a 4-run deficit for the Bolts on a Brian Colopy sacrifice fly. Anderson was evicted in the 4th when the Paints loaded the bases.
The scoring concluded as both Josh Ury and Colopy volleyed 2-run singles off of lefty Rick Weber. All told, Anderson went 3 innings and a third and yielded 6 earned runs. The bullpen gave up just one after that.
Windy City struck for just 6 hits and a total of 11 in the last pair of nights combined after 15 in game 1. The Bolts concluded their 6-game road trip at 3-3.
Tomorrow marks a league-wide off-day. The Bolts begin action again on Wednesday at home against the Evansville Otters. You have 9 chances in 9 days to catch the Bolts at Hawkinson Ford Field. It's the longest homestand of the season.
Ryan Dittfurth mans the bump for the Bolts. He threw superbly in his last start in the second game of the trip against Florence. Dittfurth surrendered just 1 earned run in 6 innings and a third. You can catch every pitch at www.sportsjuice.com starting at 7:00 Central.
