Evansville Otters News Release

Ben Foster threw a complete game allowing just one run as the Evansville Otters took two of three games form the Kalamazoo Kings, beating their cross-divisional rivals 4-1.

The Otters got on the board first in the third inning as they took advantage of Kalamazoo defensive misplays for the third straight game. With runners on first and second, Steve Martin attempted to sacrifice the runners to second and third. Lee Naplin fielded the ball and threw it wide to first base allowing Martin to reach and load the bases. After a double play scored one run, Jeff Goldbach singled into left field, scoring John Coker making it 2-0 Otters.

The game would remain that way into the seventh when the Kings scored their only run of the contest. Evansville would score two more runs in the eighth inning on an error by Tim Brown to go up 4-1.

Foster went the full nine allowing eight hits and one run, walking none and striking out four. He induced 17 ground ball outs in the game.

Evansville now takes to the road for six games against the Windy City ThunderBolts and the Gateway Grizzlies. The roadtrip will start on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. at Hawkinson Ford Field in Crestwood, IL.
