
Thunderbirds Hand Comets Third Straight Loss

Utica, N.Y. - The Utica Comets fell to the Springfield Thunderbirds by a score of 3-2 Saturday night at the Adirondack Bank Center.
Adam Comrie put the Comets up 1-0 just over two minutes into the game, banking a shot off of Springfield goaltender Harri Sateri. Griffen Molino and Patrick Wiercioch picked up the assists.
Greg Chase tied the game at one four minutes into the second period, putting a rebound past Richard Bachman. Sam Kurker and Curtis Valk were credited with the assists. Reid Boucher scored shorthanded with 7:10 remaining in the middle frame. The unassisted goal broke Darren Archibald's single-season goal record of 23. Thomas Schemitsch tied the game at two with under a minute to go in the second. Jayce Hawryluk and Cameron Brown had the assists.
Anthony Greco gave the Thunderbirds a 3-2 lead at the 11:15 mark of the third period with an unassisted goal.
Bachman finished with 25 saves and his record falls to 10-8-4. Sateri made 31 saves. His record improves to 8-6-0. The Comets power play went, while the penalty kill.
