GO TIME - Danick Gauthier was the Thunder's best offensive player this past week. The Brossard, PQ native has five goals in the last four games, two of which were on the power play and finished with two multi-goal outings. He finished with 29 last season and leads the team in that department through 16 games this year.
PLEASANT SURPRISE - Andy Huff has been a pleasant surprise for the Thunder upfront this season. He has already eclipsed his career marks for goals (4), assists (7) and points (11) through 14 games. Last year, he bounced around between Florida, Rapid City and Idaho, appearing in 21 games and recording eight points (1g, 7a) over that span. The Ferris State product is second on the team in points and tied for 16th in points among rookies.
ASSISTING - Mason Baptista has three assists in his last four games. He made a terrific pass across the crease to Danick Gauthier on Saturday night that helped the Thunder to a 2-1 lead after the first period. The former St. Norbert College product has nine points (4g, 5a) so far this season.
SOLID SHANTZ - David Shantz had another solid week, stopping 47 of 50 shots he faced. Shantz currently is tied for 13th in save percentage (.914) and 19th in goals-against average (2.54).
HOME COOKING - Wichita has scored 38 goals this year, 28 of which have come on home-ice. Wichita played eight home games in the month of November and now will hit the road for the next seven to start December. The Thunder will not return home until December 20th against Cincinnati.
RECHARGING - The Thunder power play went 10 games without finding the net, but this past week started to find its stride. Wichita went 2-for-10 in three games over the Thanksgiving holiday. Wichita is 4-for-41 at home on the man advantage and is still looking for its first power play tally on the road.
MILESTONES - Ian Lowe hit a milestone over the holiday. He tallied two assists last weekend, giving him 101 ECHL points. He needs 17 more games to have played in 300 as a pro. He also needs six more points to hit the 200-point plateau. The fifth-year pro out of Bradwardine, BC is currently in his fourth season in the Air Capital. 159 of his 194 points have come donning Thunder blue.
THUNDERBOLTS...Peter Sakaris and Danick Gauthier leads the team in shots with 48...Wichita's penalty kill is ranked 10th at home (86%) and 11th overall (83.5%)... Wichita is 4-0-0-1 when leading after two...Wichita is 3-3-0-0 when tied after one...Wichita is 4-3-0-1 in one goal games...
