Wichita Thunder News Release

WICHITA, KS- The Thunder were extremely busy today, pulling off two multiple-player trades before the 3:00 p.m. CHL trading deadline.

Wichita first sent defenseman Vladimir Hartinger to the New Mexico Scorpions for defensemen Mario Dumoulin, Dominic Plenzich and future considerations.

Dumoulin, a nine-year veteran, had 20 points in 32 games with the Scorpions this season. His best season came in 1999-2000 while with the CHL's Huntsville Channel Cats, when he picked up 47 points and 263 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 200-pound Dumoulin has amassed 203 points and 1,254 penalty minutes in 423 career games.

Plenzich, a 6-4, 220-pound rookie, notched two points and was +1 in 20 games with the Scorpions. The Thunder will also receive two players from the Scorpions following the 2002-03 season.

The Thunder also traded forward Peter MacKellar and defenseman Andrew Oke to the Tulsa Oilers today in exchange for rookie defenseman Kevin Livingston. Livingston, 6-2, 210 pounds, has picked up nine points in 44 games with the Oilers this season.

"We've greatly increased the stature of the team with these moves", said head coach Derek Laxdal. "Dumoulin is a seasoned vet who can work the power play, while both Plenzich and Livingston are solid stay-at-home defensemen who will be good young prospects for next season."

In other moves, the Thunder also placed defenseman Paul Johnson on season-ending injured reserve and suspended forward Marco Cefalo for failure to report to the team.

All three players are expected to be in the Thunder lineup on Thursday, when they host the Indianapolis Ice at 7:00 p.m. For more information, contact the Thunder office at 264-GOAL or visit our website at www.wichitathunder.com.
