Mudbugs' MacPherson Named CHL Player of the Week

BOSSIER CITY, LA â The Central Hockey League has announced that Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs forward Forbes MacPherson has been named Player of the Week for his performances over the past four games which saw the Mudbugs post a 3-0-1 record.
MacPherson recorded three goals and four assists in three games this week that saw the Mudbugs defeat Corpus Christi, Austin, and Fort Worth to continue their hot streak. Bossier-Shreveport has now won nine of its last eleven games.
He began his impressive performance on Friday night in Corpus Christi with two assists as the Mudbugs defeated the Rayz for the first time this season. The following night, MacPherson assisted on Tony Bergin's first goal of the night in a 3-0 shutout win over the Austin Ice Bats. On Sunday, he finished his weekend with an even greater performance by recording a hat trick and an assist in an 8-1 win over the Fort Worth Brahmas.
The Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island native is now tied with Jason Campbell for the team lead in goals (20) and is also tied with Dan Wildfong for the team lead in plus-minus (+21). His hat trick on Sunday was his second three-goal game of the year and in the last ten games, MacPherson has led the Mudbugs with 16 points (eight goals, eight assists). This week, he joins Dan Wildfong (Week 4) and Ken Carroll (Week 9) as Mudbugs recipients of the CHL's weekly awards this season.
The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs have closed to within five points of a playoff position thanks to their recent nine-game stretch in which they have posted eight wins and one overtime loss. The team has now won three games in a row and has not lost in regulation since January 11, 2003.
The Mudbugs will travel to Lubbock to meet the Cotton Kings on Thursday before returning home to start their longest homestand of the season. On Friday, the El Paso Buzzards will visit the CenturyTel Center for the first time to meet the Mudbugs at 7:05 p.m. Saturday will then be "Ladies Night" as Bossier-Shreveport hosts the New Mexico Scorpions.
